It's about time!
In addition to my love of golf, I'm also an avid fisherman....but like golf, I am always learning
and over the last 3 or 4 years have really taken to bass fishing. Never really fished with rubber
worms or plastic baits before as frankly I didn't know how. 3 or 4 years ago that changed when
Junior showed me how. Since then it's been the quest for the big one (or Hog in bass terms).
Well as you can see below, I finally caught one that went over the 5 lb mark (5lbs 13 ounces to
be exact ). Caught him in the Delta on Whiskey Slough just outside of Tracy, CA. Used a
5" rubber Senko (pumpkin colored I think). I felt the "tap tap" at the end of the line which means
something is taste testing your plastic bait. Set the hook and immediately thought I'd snagged
on a submerged log or rock...until it took off on me. Once it started peeling line off my reel, I thought
it was larger than normal, but didn't really realize how big it was until Junior grabbed it off the side
of the boat. We just got back into town from Tracy and he'll be giving me crap about how quickly I
posted the photos here, but who cares? I kicked his butt this week (we have a weekly fishing tourney
after work down there). We went out again today but no luck. Junior had 3 or 4 fish hit his line but they
all shook his bait loose. I had one on the line, but it got caught up in some toolies, and I lost him.
All in all, it was a good fishing week with the new boat, and I'm hoping to catch something of similar
size next time we go out. Oh, and if this fish is "normal" where you come from, I'm jealous. Out here
in CA it's rare to catch one like this.
Kevin

this last pic is kinda dumb, but we wanted to show how large his mouth was...friggin
thing had teeth. Oh, and by the way, I'll update the oobgolf scores later
