I've been a little busy lately, so I'm cramming everything into this post:

OobGolf Tournament:

The most current stats are posted with Kdave ahead by a wide margin.  Click on the OobGolf Tournament menu button to see t
he current standings.  I'm trying to break away next Tuesday to go golfing at a course called Dragon up near Truckee.  Would
be nice to be able to post a score for once.  Haven't really golfed since July and that pretty much sucks!

Bought a boat!

Not the largest or fanciest, but will work for me.  It's an 18 foot Sea Ray.  Has
a 185 HP motor and tops out at around 45MPH which should be fast
enough to pull the kids in a tube or on a wake board.  It's primarily going
to be used by me  for fishing while out of town for work.  Mike and I
have already taken it out 3 times fishing for largemouth in the Delta and
it ran great.  Still learning how to drive it, launch it and load it as I'm a
total noob when it comes to boats, but it shouldn't take too long to get
the hang of it.  Caught a decent sized bass first day out using a Senko
(plastic worm).

Unfortunately Junior's largest fish was fairly large and even though we
are tied in quantity, I have to give him props for the largest fish caught
on the boat so far.  For those of you that don't know, Junior (Mike) and I have been traveling to Tracy, CA 2 nights a week for work
since Jan 08.  Since doing so we've discovered "The Delta".  It sucks
being away from the family so much, but the fishing there helps the pain
a tad.  The Delta has quite a bit of good fishing.  We've caught some fairly
large striped bass, some 3 lb largemouth, and some huge catfish.  We're
not really catfish fishermen, but the ones we've caught have given some
pretty damn good fights.  The key of course is finding the right place to fish.
We are hoping that with the boat we can find and catch some deceent sized
stripers this year.  Just gotta figure out how to fish for them from off the boat.
And of course figure out a way to not kill ourselves out there on the water, and
avoid blowing off work to go fishing!

California State Fair

I love the State Fair.....just haven't gone there in years as the last time we went we made the major mistake of staying there after dark
with our young toddlers (at the time).  Here we are walkng through the carnival area when the crowd starts getting huge.  Next thing we
knew, police on frigging horses were coming through doing "crowd control".  Got a little scary with the kids and such, so we basically
never went back.  When I was younger, I used to love the rides...the faster the better, etc etc.  Now I'm an old fart and the damn things
make me motion sick.  My favorite part of the fair now is "people watching" and eating as much junk food as I can.  I'm especially fond
of the Corn Dog.  I ate what I considered to be a fairly large one and was quite satisfied with it until I saw one in another food stand
that was advertised as a Corn Polish Dog.  The thing was the size of a loaf
of bread.  It definitely would have taken two hands to eat and I imagine I would
have sat on the can for 2 days trying to get
it out of me.  I love the Corn Dog,
but that thing was out of control.  And
people watching?  Ok, I'm from
California, and although I am a moderate
Republican, It's mostly because I'm a
conservative when it comes to the State
spending my money.  Socially, I'm pretty
liberal....but....and no offense if the picture
to the left is YOU, but WTF?  The photos are probably too small to tell, but Junior
(who was there), tells me that this man/woman was in need of a shave.  Too weird....what made it surreal was that this "person" had a son
of around 12 with him/her that was the spitting image of Opie from Mayberry RFD.  There were a lot of other interesting sites to behold at
the fair but this person was kind of the best of the best when it comes to odd things we saw that day.

Oh, and the rides at the fair were pretty much outstanding, although extremely expensive.  The highlight of the day was when my crazy wife
and Junior's son decided they wanted to bungie jump.  Check out the odd take off from Young Mike in the following photo.  Suprised he didn't
become "Young Michelle" with the way the rope initially appeared to be
wrapped between his legs.  Anyways, the fair was fun, we had a great time,
and weren't stomped on by police horses this year.  At the bottome of this
article, you'll find some videos
we took that day including Teresa
and Young Mike's bungie jumps,
a video of a motocross guy doing
a 360 and one of the "rides from hell"
that my teenagers went on.  Oh, and
one of the funniest things that day was
the look on Liz's face (my daughter in law)
after she got off this ride.  We all thought
it was one of those zipper type rides and

that's why she agreed to get on it.  Once it did it's little side turn here, we knew she wasn't going to be too happy!  All in all, a good day.
